What is the best dopamine increasing drug (that is legal) to effectively treat the negative symptoms of schizophrenia in your experience? Vyvanse, Mondafinal, bupropion, etc what?
My understanding is that antipsychotics block dopamine, so wouldn’t it be working at cross-purposes to increase it?
As I recall there are multiple dopamine receptors, but I believe serotonin and other receptors are considered more involved. First generation AP medications were more simplistically targeting a few dopamine receptors.
Balance of the receptors in atypicals seems quite subtle, I think you’re more likely to cause serious problems attempting brute force solutions to negative symptoms. They tend to be difficult to shake and from experience. Barring reports of progress with Clozapine in some cases, drugs alone are unlikely to make significant dents in them.
