I also recommend reading “Surviving Schizophrenia: A Family Manual” by E. Fuller Torrey, M.D. I’m not sure if it addresses this exact scenario, but it goes into a lot of detail about many, many aspects of the illness, treatment, and services.

I have to politely disagree. I think these delusions can come from the brain disorder with no basis in reality.
