I often worry if my son is depressed when he lays around all day. When i ask him he always says he’s fine. I’m not sure if he is telling me the truth or not. The flat affect doesn’t help the situation.

Low energy comes with the illness, I believe my son if he says he is okay-flat affect and all…because ‘not okay’ usually results in some kind of sz symptoms. Just to calm your fears you can also ask his psychiatrist these questions and see what he or she says about it.
Another idea is to get his D3 and B12 levels checked the next time he sees his family doctor, I was told by my son’s psych nurse that psych meds can deplete D3 and B12 levels and often just adding those supplements can help improve energy to some degree. Just a thought.
