My Mom went off her meds & is in the hospital. It seems like she doesnt love or care about me/our relationship. All she does is demand her belongings when we talk, she doesnt ask how Im doing or say she misses me or anything. She told me she only trusts 1 out of 4 of her kids & not her sister or anyone else. Shes taken antipsych meds for 2 days in a row now and before this it was off and on. Before she went off her meds, she loved me a lot. Will my Mom ever come back to me? Also, the mental health court used my words against my Mom without my knowledge to get her treatment (but my other 2 siblings & aunt didnt speak to them).

I’m so sorry to hear that your mom has gone off her medication and is struggling,
One of the principles in nami is we separate the illness from the person.
Sometimes the illness might seem like it doesn’t love you but your mom still does.
Hang on to your memories and good times you’ve had with your mom.
I know it’s very difficult when it seems to be the illness takes over I have grieved losing my sibling over and over even though he is still with me there are parts that are gone.
Please don’t feel guilty for advocating for your mother’s mental health if you talk to health providers or the courts .
you didn’t cause the illness and you can’t cure it.

When people with Sz are having an episode, or thereafter, they’re totally focused on themselves. You can see why this would be the case with all the strange thoughts and sensations. They’re dealing with those things.
