Yes, I think Zyprexa is fairly effective for my son, but he always has breakthrough episodes, meaning the voices get really loud and he has to be alone then and take extra meds (benzo). It happens 2 or 3 times a week. It is really awful to see him suffer during these episodes. Did Zyprexa work for your son?
It did work but he complained about cramping. I offered to get him to the gym to swim and exercise but he didnāt accept it. He has switched. Now that he is in the hospital he wants to go on Latuda even though he wouldnāt take it before. Iāll talk to social worker tomorrow and see if we can make a switch.
So sorry your son is in hospital. These medicines are a double edged sword, they need them to stay somewhat safe, but I hate the side effects. My son is always med compliant, but also uses MJ, which he claims helps his depression, but I feel it makes him want to be more isolated. It is a battle I had given up on for now, we just try to get thru each day. He has a puppy, which he takes care of, with some help from me, and it is well worth the extra work, as the puppy makes him smile and we both have a common bond to take care of the puppy. Hope your son can get better soon.
When our old golden passes, we too are going to get a puppy. He has been asking for awhile but she has hip problems and it would be dangerous for her.
