Clozapine doses and how to take it

Glad to hear that he is stable now. I am the same, I worry about the side effects and how he will live when if something happens to me. I am planning to move to CA to be closer to my brother so I will have a backup. I am also paying attention to my health so I can live for long time to help him to stabilize.
Clozapine is something I want him to put him on because I hear a lots of benefits of getting someone close to Normal life but not sure how ! since he is refusing the weekly blood draws. will have to wait until Angry Moms is able to change the Clozapine REMS blood draw schedule to be monthly instead of weekly…

I contacted Angry Mons and they said it is not as effective as Clozapine but I am willing to try after doing enough research and checking with others with tried it.
I think I also need to do a genetic testing to see what medicine works for him best.

When my daughter started clozapine, the weekly draws only lasted a month or two. Then she started monthly. I think they do daily when they start it in the hospital. Clozapine is a very effective medication
It takes time to build up in the system. If you could get him to stay on that, i think youd see improvement. Remember, weekly draws are temporary. Then, its monthly.

My son had a different frequency for the blood draws once he was out of the hospital: weekly for six months, then every two weeks thereafter. At the one year mark (Jan 2025) he asked his Dr. if he could go to monthly draws, but the Dr. is keeping him on the two week schedule for now. I don’t know the reason.

Maybe he was concerned with borderline numbers.

do you know what should The ANC Acceptable level be? noral Range is 1.4 - 6.0 K/ul. would it be ok to be 6.5 K/ul?
what about Neutrophils Auto what is the acceptable high Range? Normal range is 35%-65%

I am thinking as long as WBC level is within acceptable range then ANC is OK
The normal number of WBCs in the blood is 4,500 to 11,000 WBCs per microliter (4.5 to 11.0 × 109/L)

What they look at is the ANC (absolute neutrophils count). So thats a combination of the WBC and neuts. The concern is if it’s low. I think high means that the patient may be fighting an infection of some sort. I’m not a doctor, so please check with the prescriber.
