why oh why are you pushing this , from reading your original post you said A was working. ok he has some odd behaviour but what single situation has led you to say ‘i cant handle this I need to get him to a psychiatrist’. has their being a violent outburst , can he no longer look after himself. my point is that schiz means in the vast vast majority of cases that a person can no longer function , they can not work , they can not concentrate , they can not go out.
producing a book on ‘surviving schizophrenia’ when there is no diagnosis in the first place , no gross dysfunction., is going to be contentious
why are you so afraid that you want to get A to a psychiatrist. the truth is if schiz happens you will know about it very quickly.

You need to get a diagnosis from a doctor. Free medical advice from strangers on the Internet is worth about half as much as you paid for it.

I’m confused about your last post Meteor. It seems that you’re making some incorrect and over-broad assumptions. How am I “pushing this”? I would much prefer A to go to a psychologist, it’s pretty clear he needs some mental help.
How would having the book “Surviving Schizophrenia” around be a bad idea? B was only around, not A. Though, considering that B became unreasonably agitated and violent, I now better realize that B has some mental issues as well. I’d recommend the book to anyone and everyone as it is one of the best books on mental illness that I have read. If you work with people, this book is indispensable. I’d recommend this book, especially, to people posting on these forums.
A is in his 50’s and B is in his 20’s. If anyone has more advice, please let me know.

You are looking for advice fair enough , but being honest , if I had no diagnosis , I was working , functioning to a decent level , possibly knowing very little about mental illness , and if someone produced a book ‘surviving schizophrenia’ and left it lying around and expecting me to ‘learn’ from it , i gotta say it would cause an argument, schizophrenia is a serious illness possibly the worst of the mental illnesses. You simply do not have the know how to make these kinds of judgements.
