My son is fully medicated and never been on street drugs so he doesn’t fit your scenario. Highly resistant to meds but beating the crap out of him while he is face down on the floor only added to possible futher damage to his brain. Full time CIT officers are needed.
I agree with you. Some law enforcement have no patience. That’s when the supervisors need to be more responsible… Sometimes they are the problem. Is there a program where crisis mental health can come out? We’ve been called to assist counselors when they do home visits. I hope you’ll get some needed help, before it gets too hard for you.
If you get hurt by your son, call the police. Ask for a CIT officer. We’ve done this a couple of times and it’s hard but it accomplishes a bit: 1. They think twice about hurting you again because, though psychotic, they know the consequences; and 2. They get some treatment although it’s never long enough (usually two weeks max). If you’re lucky, they get on and stay on a medication; if you’re unlucky, they quit meds again. Always worth a try.
