The pacing/walking around is out of control

That’s s great analogy . I agree its similar here, I tell him assertively and he accepted it.
We love dogs too and my son does too.

What did you take to help it wes? He’s been prescribed procyclidine.

At first I found a lot of relief when the psychiatrist added a beta blocker called propanolol.

From talking more to some of the people I met in group therapy for schizophrenics, for those who must stay on the meds, it’s important to keep trying different antipsychotics until they find one that works and has the fewest side effects for them. But if he isn’t troubled by the pacing and the kicks, then maybe just don’t worry about it and let it go for now. I still have some residual symptoms involving the little kicks and my Mom calls it my “dancy feet.” It doesn’t bother me, and so I’m not going to worry about it.

Good luck!

Thank you, glad your doing well and doesn’t bother you. The dr mentioned propranolol but said as there was a possible history of asthma then he couldn’t have them . So he prescribed procyclidine.

The walking about bothered us more , especially at night when it’s quiet. It’s distressing to watch too. Hopefully these help .

He is hopefully changing meds soon as these aren’t right , he is willing to cooperate and try oral meds which opens up more possibilities. Thank you hope you keep well.

My son told me that he paces because he is on a mission. Be it the government, spies, aliens or whatever he is saving the world. When he paces he is busy solving or creating problems and sometimes even starts laughing very loudly because of some tactic he created. At times he will tell me why he is laughing and it is always bizarre to me but totally real to him.He has paced on meds and off meds. He decided that he isn’t ill and doesn’t trust his doctor anymore so no meds for 4 months. The more psychotic he becomes the more he paces, leaving all the lights on and doors wide open. I have to get up in the middle of the night to lock everything back up but he just does it again and again. He also doesn’t hear me when he is like this because he is so involved in his own world .Frustrating to say the least and all I can do is try to understand and keep him safe.

I’m sorry. My son told us that he hears everything even when he was so very ill he doesn’t respond to us. He said he is working things out in his mind.

Hi my son burst out laughing as well for no reason. I do ask him why but he never shares it with me

When my son is very ill, he does the inappropriate laughing thing too.
For him, it’s a sign that he’s hearing things.

I guess it’s nice that he’s hearing things that are funny than scary, but I’m happy when the meds work and it stops.
