Experience with Clozapine

Thank you for sharing.
My son, in delusion, thinks we are his adopted parents and forced us to do paternity tests. When they came back as expected, he said they were fake because the guy taking the swabs mixed them to make sure they were 99.99999999% in my favor as the father. It is really heart breaking …

Wishing continued improvement with your daughter’s condition.

@Rkal, my son is 30 and has been on Clozapine for a year. He had been stable on Xyprexa for several years, then in Fall 2023 it just stopped working. After hospitalization for more than two months and being given several different anti-psychotic meds with no improvement, he was prescribed Clozapine. Finally, he improved sufficiently to be discharged. He slowly regained his cognitive, motivational, emotional, and social abilities to pre-hospitalization levels over the next six months. He cannot work or attend school, but I’m grateful he’s home and has an anti-psych med that’s reasonably effective. I hope your son improves, too.

I hope my 29 year old son will try clozapine some day. Did your son have significant weight gain? My son gained 100+ on Abilify. He is currently unmedicated and in county jail, sadly.

He had already gained 100 lbs from psych meds (I believe the Zyprexa) before the Clozapine. Unfortunately he has not lost any weight on Clozapine.

How are things going? I am hopeful for you and your son that you will continue to see gradual brain healing and eventually significant improvement with Clozapine.
