I had written a nice long goodbye that was totally lost when I went to help my husband bring groceries inside. You will all just have to imagine that you were all mentioned and thanked - the dedication to the late GSSP was especially touching and humorous, he would have enjoyed it.
My apologies (once again, I really have tried to stop it entirely) for my humor and my determination to not forget those rare families who have the trickiest situations to navigate.
So many families were able to move on in their lives using information they gained on this forum. For those of you from the past who helped others and myself, my deep thanks. For those of you who got your own lives figured out and still stayed to keep the path lit for others, we are all grateful.
Where would my family be without Dr Amador and LEAP? I hate to even think about it. Or without Cognitive Behavior Therapy - it helped our Mike get out of his apartment and back into the world.
And Mike, how he would have hated me participating on this forum. For some of our families, this little corner of the internet provided the anonymity we needed to ask questions and get help. We loved him and we miss him every day. I hope his stories helped someone find their way forward.
As we wrote in his obituary, Mike met each challenge with faith, humor and persistence. Whenever life handed him another limitation, Mike shouldered it and kept on going. This forum made it possible for our family to help Mike on his journey.
“How lucky were we to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard?” AA Milne
Take care friends
