Leaving notes around for loved one to read

My father is deaf and is going through some rough times with schizophrenia… And im having a hard time communicating with him.

Do you guys think if I left notes in places he goes to remind him of things … like

Dad,
We love you and I’m sorry for not taking the time to listen and understand what you are going through and how you feel. Please give me a chance

Do you think that would freak him out? or

You never know what will help or hurt. Scz can turn good bad and bad good when they are psychotic.

That’s how I communicated with my son while he was at the hospital. You could hand him the note. Try a simple one perhaps like - do you want a soda?
