My son has been on the similar mix - without the Invega. Hope your son cooperates and that it helps.
Thank you - he seems much better, but heās seemed much better before.
And, he took his meds this morning with a not terribly sarcastic remark.
I told him Iād get some gelcaps to put his pills in so it would be more like heās only taking one thing - and he could pick the color. He picked clear, so thatās a good compromise. He can take one pill, but still see what heās taking.
The delusions are still there, but without the former urgency, and heās in a really good mood, so Iāll just ride the wave until he crashes again.
He sees the doctor on Thursday, so no telling what sheāll want to do. At this point, I just want it left alone if heāll take everything - unless she wants to increase the shot again.
The gelcap idea is a good one!
My son was off and on mood stabilizers and anti-depressants. He was on Trileptal for quite a while. Anti-depressants at some point always seemed to be more triggering than helpful.
At this point, I can hardly believe my son has been med compliant as long as he has - I think it helps when the med actually works.
Enjoy the good mood, and try not to fret about when things will change.
High five! You deserve a break today. Big hugs
Our insurance company calls just to check on us all the time - which is nice, in a way, but not always welcomed.
Today, the mental health side called, so I let him talk to them, and he did great - it usually makes him very nervous.
He asked me at the end if he should tell the lady to call him again later to do another check or not, and I told him I didnāt think it was strictly necessary, but to do what he wanted.
So, he told her no. Then about 5 minutes later said she was so nice, he should have told her yes.
Thatās a weird little thing, but so out of character for him - so far, Iām liking this med combination, but Iāll still wait everyday for the other shoe to drop. Iām going to enjoy it - just have to protect my own mental state a little by reminding myself this could be temporary.
Heās never been on a mood stabilizer before. They have given him Neurontin that some people use as a mild mood stabilizer in the past because he asked for it - his dad was given it by a pain specialist, so my son was thinking he could get high off it - but it never did much for him.
Maybe thereās more of a mood component with him than I ever expected. I definitely saw a big change with him when they added it.
And, to give his new psychiatrist full credit since Iāve been bashing her, it is the first thing she mentioned when we spoke in private while he was getting his shot - she wanted to add one, but he was so paranoid at the time she was worried heād be paranoid about her if she added a new pill.
This does all sound positive. I havenāt had time to chat much but wanted to say great news!
Have you tried prazosin/ minipress?
