My daughter is on four different meds for mood stabilizers and psychotic behaviors, including auditory hallucinations. She was hospitalized several times when she was 10yo. Now she’s 15, 5’7" and weighs 200lbs. She gains 10lbs every few months. I don’t know what to do - she makes no connection between the eating and the weight, but hates being fat - a lot of negative self-talk. Any advice? (I do not keep junk food in the house!)
Hi, and welcome to our forum.
This is a very common problem on these medications. Here are some past discussions in the Diagnosed board and “News” area that may be of interest:

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, diet alone will not work. We’ve been through two nutritionists, we know what to eat and what to avoid, but even too much of the good foods will make you gain weight. Short of putting locks on all the cabinets and the fridge, she’s going to keep eating. It’s not a food journey. She’s driven to eat because of the meds. I need an off switch.
