Smartphone use to stay med compliant

The medication that has helped my son best is only available orally. Unfortunately he has a very hard time remaining med-compliant.

Online research shows success in using skype to monitor med compliance for some other disorders such as TB.

Has anyone tried using Facetime, Skype, or Google Hangouts to visually monitor medication compliance?

What do you think of the idea?

I just don’t think my son can remain on his own if he can’t remain compliant. (Several injectables have been tried without long term, or in some cases even short term success. He is currently in hospital due to decompensation because of a trial of Abilify.)

It seems to me it could be a viable way for mental health providers to monitor med compliance.

I dunno what services you have in your town but PACT that I’m with in this town will actually stop by your home every day and watch you take your meds if you’re not well enough to do more casual approaches.

I have heard of this for regular doctors-but not sure how this would work with a pdoc.
