My 27 yr old son is exactly like your description! Wow… I’m thankful he’s not in trouble and taking his meds. (Only lithium twice a day) He is taking a once every three month shot and I think that helps. He couldn’t focus on anything before but now he plays video games for hours. (Don’t know which is better?) He will never be able to hold down a job because we live back in the woods and he doesn’t have a drivers license because of a DUI a couple of years ago.
Hi Lycia222,
your comment about your son walking up and down the block or in circles in the house is EXACTLY my brother who is now 56. he always turns around in a circle 3 times when he is walking inside the house. He does a lot of motions with his hands also. he also spends a lot of time walking and pacing. he was not like this when he was younger, but over time he lost interest in everything. I would not focus on these things if I were you. Be thankful that you can tolerate living with him!! My parents could not tolerate living with my brother. They put him in an apartment a long time ago. He really could not live there without a lot of intervention on my parents part but at least they did not have to live with him in their house.
Hi. You have made a great point. Because we used to live in a small apartment and my son would walk round and round to where I could not hardly stand to see him out my door pacing. I would have to keep my bedroom door closed. Now we live in a townhouse and he has the whole bottom floor to himself. He still walks around in our den but I am now able to go upstairs to my room and not have to see him. I am very thankful I have him here safe with me. Not long ago we had a neighbor complain about him. We live on a dead end street and he walks up and down smoking. We explained his situation and that he was no threat or danger to anyone. But I know that he still looks intimidating. Thankfully we haven’t heard anything else from them. The walking and smoking is something that my son needs to do. I hear him coughing a lot and can only pray for him cause I know he will never stop smoking.
