My son is on clozapine, and although better on it , the doc would like to see more confidence and motivation and suggested electric shock therapy , my son declined for now, and I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on this treatment.??
My son’s last psychiatrist suggested it and said it would reboot his brain. My sister in law who is an addiction psychiatric at VA didn’t have anything good to say about it. In fact she said it will Not reboot the brain.
I do know of an artist that ECT helped immensely for his depression.
Good luck with your decisions.
I hope you will get more feedback on this post. It’s something I’ve been thinking about that can possibly help my daughter. Let us know what you learn.
Have done a little research on ECT and this may or may not work…however Clozapine is a slow acting drug and my son has been on it for 6 months now…400mg…doing much better…hopefully clozapine once at therapeutic levels will indicate no ECT…as a substitute decision maker I alone and his Dr make that decision after having discussions with my son…we have not come to this yet…if we do I will research people who have experienced it…not those working in the field… Too many opinions… I want facts…
