How many of you have an unmedicated family member and what's happening today?

Is the pharmacy saying the 20mg will soon be unavailable also?

Yes, no new supply on the haldol…for God know what reason! We got her first supply from a different pharmacy… but it sounds like it is hard to get the drug in this area…

Does your prescription provider have a mail order option?

I am so glad the voices have stopped.

we can ask about that… but how do you find a reputable mail order pharmacy? Wait… I need to check to see if there is one that my insurance works through. The pharmacy we are trying to get it is connected to a hospital that we can patient financial assistance…and we have been able to get all our prescriptions for free.

My health insurance does include a mail order pharmacy… but I am not sure how much we would have to pay…

It looks like they have the 10mg for free for home delivery

That is good news!! And not easy information to obtain. Good job Dad!

Some of the psych drugs are only available in 30 day supplies.

They also have 5 mg for $10.00 for 90 days… but the 30 days is free for 5mg… they only do the generic version.

I 'm so happy for you and your daughter. Your story gives me some hope for my son. Has your daughter gained any insight at all.

Yes, she has insight and the Anosognosia has retreated. She understands the role medication has played. She is normal and will still tell you she doesn’t like some of the side effects, but understands the role it plays and does not reject taking the shot.

I’d have to go back and research the actually numbers but I think around 1/3 of those with Schizophrenia who seek treatment and find the right meds see insight restored.

The term Anosognosia isn’t limited to just those who suffer from a mental illness. Alzheimer’s and stroke patients can also suffer from it.

When I talked to my wife about the mail order prescription source through my insurance for haldol, she said she was under the impression that it was the national supplier that was having trouble keeping up with the demand…

When I looked up haldol in the mail order website it said that haldol was not covered, but then I put in the generic name, and a whole bunch of choices came up… so I wonder if it is the brand name that is hard to find verses the generic?

We will have to ask the doc… if worse comes to worse they may have to prescribe a different me dictation, but still, we don’t know how she will do with something different while she is doing well with haldol.

I do think the RX prescription insurance coverage companies are pushing generics a good deal in their prescription tier systems. Could it be possible that is the reason brand name Haldol is less available?

Some months when I reorder my son’s Clozapine, the pharmacy chooses the ā€˜wrong’ manufacturer and the insurance company denies it. Whenever the staff changes at the pharmacy, this is likely to happen, and then I have to go in and remind them to look at their notes about the prescription.

I found on the FDA website that all dosages of haloperidol (Haldol) tablets from Mylan Pharmaceuticals is currently out of stock… estimated re-supply is April 2019. No reason given for shortage.

Sandoz discontinued the manufacturing of the drug and Zydus is only currently allocated to current committed customers because of the increase demand.

There are other manufacturers of the drug.

I saw on another website that Mylan will restock my daughter’s dosage in May 2019… the info in the FDA was last verified as of March 7th.

Employer provided and Obamacare insurance companies are making it more difficult to get Invega Sustenna covered while Medicaid and Medicare is making it easier.

There is a online pharmacy that provides Invega Sustenna for less than half the U.S. price and it is shipped from UK. Invega Sustenna is sold under a different name in the UK but manufactured by the same company.

Canadian online is almost half the cost.
