My son says maybe he met someone in the hospital

Oh, you better believe if I think that’s what’s going to go down, there will be birth control plenty in every conceivable form & fashion.

I’d even pay for her to go to the doctor & get put on whatever she wants.

That sounds delicious – alas I’ve only tried the shrimp twice because it sent me into an anaphalytic reaction. It used to be my favorite food, along with crab cakes. I know what you mean. I’ve never have a family dinner at the table in my entire life, I’ve always eaten in bed, the floor, the couch, or sat in a computer chair. Hopefully not and hopefully she’s drug-free and not an alcoholic.

I would be just as concerned. One of my fears is that mine would find someone, move them in to his apartment and stick me with another person to worry about.

He’s called me two more times & not mentioned her, so it must not have been all that.

And, he’s happy that he’ll probably be coming home somewhere between Friday & Monday.
They have him his shot a couple days ago, he’s sleeping, and seems to be doing better - it’ll just take time for the delusions to weaken and start to go away.

At least he’s not saying he’s Jesus anymore - now it’s St. Nick.

Never underestimate the true instincts of a mom…

I am relieved for you! He is improving isn’t he? Scaling down to a saint has to be a good sign.

Better yet, not even mentioning the new friend.

Lol - we are the best of moms and according to them sometimes, the worst of moms

Hey mommas always know best lol… My momma made me learn fast!

What kind of shot is he taking?

Invega Sustenna.

He came home 2 months ago after they started him on it & did really well.
Then, they put him on the recommended dose for maintenance (117 mg) and he either needed more, or needed the shot earlier, or maybe both.

They started him back on the Invega pills last week. I guess they wanted to make sure it still worked for him before they gave him a shot. He had his shot this past Monday - I don’t know what dosage yet.

We’re supposed to have another family meeting tomorrow, and I’m expecting them to release him either Friday or by Monday based on the last 2 times he was in there. Since he’s been in there 3 times in 6 months, I think they’re trying to make sure this time.

And, by St. Nick, he means Santa Clause. He looks nothing like Santa Clause & won’t even go Christmas shopping with me, although he does sometimes have some thoughtful gift ideas. I’m still happier with Santa Clause because I can’t imagine anyone ever doing anything bad in Santa’s name. To me, Jesus is a little iffier.

I think Santa Claus is a great choice, lol! Start compiling your wish list!

Unless he goes very, very deep into psychosis, he’s very sweet & caring - and too sensitive to both is own problems and everyone else’s for his own good.

Santa Clause isn’t a bad choice.

It’s fairly new. He said it in the day or so before he went into the hospital, right before it switched to Jesus.

The first time he said he was someone else, it was Kurt Cobain - some resemblance, so I get that.
Next, it was Biggie Smalls - don’t get that one at all.

This time, Jonathan Strange from the movie, and Jack Benny the old comedian. Sometimes, he’ll say one, then within minutes he’ll say the other one.

There’s probably been some others in there too, but the Jesus reference is the one that really bothers me.
I’m afraid it will lead to him getting messages directly from God to do things.

I am so grateful for this dialog…I have thought about all of these things, but have yet to walk through them…the girl thing, that is. I do worry about it.

Caution for sure…understanding their joy to have love and companionship too…and concern for the chaos that is likely from a tumultuous end.

Hoping only for the best of what may come out of this interest he has, slw.

My son has thought he was Jesus every now and then. Mostly he is harassed by the military (of course not really) and/or aliens. He has a few times told me he is an alien, which leaves me very confused about his conception, lol!

We’ve had problems with the military, people coming back from the future to get him because he knows something they don’t want him to know, the CIA has bugged the house, that his therapist was listening through the phone even if it was just sitting there on the hook, all kinds of things. I’m sure there were some aliens in there at some point, too.

To be honest, those things are easier to deal with than him thinking he runs a TV station, writes shows, has deals with major companies, and asks how we can go get his money from all that work out the bank because he should have millions in residuals.

@slw my daughter does the same thing.

That’s why they can’t concentrate - whatever is misfiring in their brain is all over the place.

I read recently that one theory about psychosis is something I think they called neural pruning.
When kids get to a certain age, near puberty, their brain naturally prunes off all the extra neurons that aren’t needed - kind of like pruning a plant for stronger branches.

In our kids, the pruning goes a little too far.

But, somehow, to me, it feels like the opposite has happened.

Early on, I’ve watched my son cycle from being totally out of his mind with delusions/paranoia, to kind of OK, to convinced he’s done something terrible like hurt someone, every 15 minutes - and it would go on like that for hours. I know because I timed it.

I think that was his 2nd break when he was about 17 - it was heartbreaking.

My son has still not been released but he has asked of this 30 year old could move in with him. He could be our security guard. He would like to live in the country. I said no and he said okay.

Boy is that familiar. It’s been a few months but definitely a cycle.

They’re so kind hearted.
