Will he recover?

My boyfriend suffered a really bad drug induced episode in October. Like many people with schizophrenia, he struggles with addiction - especially alcohol. He tries very hard to stay sober and he can stay sober for a long time, the longest he’s stayed sober was 2-3 years but that was before we started dating. Something was stressing him out but he didn’t want to relapse on alcohol, so he turned to weed instead, or should I say, edibles. He ended having a really bad episode and getting himself hospitalised, he was in a bad way - getting aggressive and violent. He was put in isolation for a month. Nobody was allowed to visit.

He was discharged a month ago - he’s getting home treatment but they put him on the Clopixol injection and Clozepam. The Clopixol is giving him really bad tremors, they took him off the Clozepam which gave him bad withdrawals.

Now he’s depressed and has became withdrawn, he’s barely online and probably sleeping most of the time. It’s hard to see him like this. He responds to my texts but I haven’t texted him in nearly a week, I decided to just leave him alone. I don’t know when I’ll text him next but I want to leave it for awhile, hoping he will get better in time, hoping he hasn’t completely destroyed himself. I don’t know when or if I’ll get my boyfriend back.

I am sorry your boyfriend is having a difficult time. I wonder if keeping in contact with his sister would help you with your worries. She knows his history and could help you with some of your questions.
